Freddie Gibbs, Big Sean & Hit-Boy “4 Thangs” – Single Review
Following his popular project Alfredo with The Alchemist, as well as numerous features with artists like Westside Gunn and Benny the Butcher, Freddie Gibbs continues his strong 2020 with the release of “4 Thangs”. The Hit-Boy produced track features Gibbs trading bars with his 2010 XXL Freshman classmate, Big Sean.
The track, as well as a music video, has been heavily teased over the past few weeks. Gibbs has shared behind-the-scenes clips, several promotional magazine covers, and a 1-minute promo video featuring, comedian Gerald “Slink” Johnson aka Black Jesus, as he attempts to sell “4 Thangs” merch outside Staples Center.
All of this shares a common theme: winning. The music video has Gibbs, Sean, and Hit-Boy in Laker purple and gold celebrating a championship victory with a post-game press conference and champagne showers in the locker room. On the track, Gibbs and Sean are at their best, showcasing their near-flawless chemistry.
“She keep calling me babe, I said “That’s not my name” / Million dollars, million followers, that’s not the same”
Having both released successful albums earlier this year, the pair has a lot to celebrate. Though we don’t know if this is a standalone release or a single off an upcoming project, “4 Thangs” is surely a must listen – and a must watch.
