Need to Know – Tommy Genesis
There is no rapper out right now that makes music like Tommy Genesis. The Canadian-born rapper, model, and visual artist has been hailed as the internet’s most rebellious queen of underground rap. With her self-described style of “fetish rap,” Genesis unapologetically boasts confidence and sensuality in her lyrics to fuel an authentic and empowering narrative.

Genesis has made quite a name for herself in the industry having collaborated with major artists including Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, and JPEGMAFIA. She also frequently works with G.O.O.D. Beats producer Charlie Heat, who produced several songs from Genesis’ self-titled debut album in 2018 including the hits “100 Bad,” “Play With It,” and “Tommy”.
Genesis’ bars are both enchanting and intoxicating, glistening over heavy hitting, sometimes experimental, beats that could fit anywhere from dance club anthems to mosh pit bangers. Dominating underground rap is only the tip of what Tommy Genesis can do creatively – she’s directed videos, designed her own sets and merchandise, and modeled for Calvin Klein and Fenty. Genesis has curated a unique aesthetic that shines through in everything from her music to her personal website.
Most recently, she provided a dark, sensual feature on JPEGMAFIA’s “ROUGH 7” single. Though she has not put out any solo material in 2020, it will be interesting to see how she expands her artistic creativity and further develops her sound with her next project.
