“Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” – Single Review
This isn’t the first time the artists have paired up: they have toured together, and even won a CMA together with their cover of “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.” Their latest collab, co-written by King, was recorded pre-pandemic.
The lyrics describe the exhilarating fun of a crazy night out; something we’re all craving right now. “We don’t gotta wait until the weekend // There’s always time for jumping off the deep end // So don’t you wait up tonight // Don’t worry, I’ll be fine // Baby, I’m drunk and I don’t wanna go home,” they sing over banjos and sharp drum beats.
“The true story of this song sums up our wild friendship,” King said in a statement about the song. “Miranda is someone I have looked up to as a songwriter, musician, performer, and human being for a long time. So our tumbleweed snowball story of getting to know each other is the ultimate real deal kinda thing. Nobody revs me up, kicks my ass on stage, or treats me more like family than Miranda Lambert.”
The song’s release was accompanied by a video. Lambert and King are decked out in 80s wedding outfits, partying hard and having a blast. Let’s hope we can all get just as crazy some time soon!
