Illenium & Iann Dior Team Up For “First Time”
Illenium rose to prominence in 2016 with the success of his remixes of Flume’s “Say It” and The Chainsmoker’s “Don’t Let Me Down”. He quickly became known for his euphoric guitar melodies and infatuating future bass drops. Well, the 30-year-old DJ does not stray from his fool-proof formula on “First Time”.
The “Nightlight” producer’s newest collaboration highlights the infectious vocals of “Mood” artist, iann dior. “First Time” debuted on Illenium’s SoundCloud page on March 11th, followed by its widespread release the day after. Written by Stephen Aiello, Jutes, iann dior, and Illenium, the single draws inspiration from pop/punk, future bass, and hip hop genres. The song’s template will do well in captivating commercial audiences. After all, it opens with iann’s catchy hook and quickly builds into an ecstatic festival anthem.
“First Time” is definitely reminiscent of the sound of 2016 (minus iann’s now-popularized vocal style), but that isn’t the worst thing. After a tumultuous year, deem it therapeutic that Illenium takes us back in time for just under three minutes. Check out the official lyric video below.
