Aminé Drops Deluxe Edition of Limbo

This year in music has seen an unprecedented rise in Deluxe Edition double-albums, with artists including Lil Uzi Vert (Eternal Atake), Jhené Aiko (Chilombo), and Lil Durk (Just Cause Y’all Waited 2) releasing extensive compilations of additional tracks on top of their latest projects and billing it as a “deluxe.”  The latest artist to join the trend is Portland’s own Aminé with the release of the deluxe version of his album Limbo.

Initially released in August, Limbo finds an often introspective Aminé at his most pragmatic, reconnecting with the lighthearted personality that initially launched him into stardom with “Caroline” while also trying to build and maintain a sustainable legacy.  Limbo is the soundtrack for the complex transition from carefree youth to a responsible adult, resulting in some of the best music of Aminé’s career thus far.

The deluxe edition includes seven new tracks and features guest appearances from Saba, Valee, Toosii, and psychedelic rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra.  Aminé continues his steady musical maturation and relishes in the successes that Limbo has brought him in just four short months.

With a high-spirited attitude and unassumingly clever wit, Aminé’s skills are once again on full display, creating an overall airy vibe that is invigorating.  The pressures of the industry demands and burdens of reputation have yet to crack Aminé, as the rapper is still clearly in touch with the fun-loving style that made him a viral hit back in 2016.

The deluxe edition of Limbo adds a perfect amount of fresh perspective without overwhelming or outshining the developmental charm and confident flex that made its predecessor one of the better projects this year.
